- Description
- This photo depicts performers at an Asian/Pacific American Heritage week that is dated between May 6th-13th, 1989 that is taking place in Boston, MA. The celebration of one's roots is very significant for any first, second, or third generation immigrant in this country. This celebration is a way to showcase the beauty of the culture of Asian/Pacific Islanders as well as a way to connect with their ancestors. The performers are depicted wearing cultural clothing as well with performers are playing cultural music in the background. The overall beauty of the community coming together to elevate and share their culture while embracing it is what makes this image so powerful. Boston has a large network of AAPI with communities that help orchestrate a week's worth of events such as festivals, cultural open house exhibits, and sports games that incorporate cultural celebrations.
